I think my wisdom teeth are coming up. It hurts so bad, but i don't know what to do :(
Is there any cheap way of getting your wisdom teeth removed? Can you bypass the dentist/doctor visit and go straight to surgery?
Is it better to be a public patient or private in these scenarios? I have no idea?
Does anyone know how much this stuff costs?
I haven't been to the dentist in years, I don't even know where to start :(

Pain hurts more when there is a price tag attached :(
  • im pretty sure it costs about $2000
i went into hospital for day surgery - i dont think id want to be awake for the procedure. specially as they will only take a maximum of two teeth out at a time in the dentists chair, so u'll have to go back a second time round.

u need to get x-rays done - you might not even have to get them out, and thats the only way you can know for sure

    xx
  • If they're not rotten why take them out at all? People only get their wisdom teeth taken out around here because they're infected, rotten or impacted into the jawbone, or if they're bumping other teeth around cause you don't have enough room for them. Mine aren't so far, so I'm leaving them there.

The reason they hurt so much coming through is because there was no tooth in the gum for their to be a hole for it to pop through. What you're feeling right now is how a baby feels when it's teeth come through for the first time- no wonder they bitch about it!

I'm hoping my top ones come through fine so they bump my teeth forward and it means I don't need to get $8000 worth of ortho work done.
  • I think mine cost a bit over $1000 and I got about half that back with hbf. You gotta get a dentist to refer you to an oral surgeon if you wanna go under. I know some crazy people that get them out in the chair - that is cheaper tho and if you get a good dentist can be alright and not too painful with not much swelling. I didn't swell at all with mine... they are getting pretty good at doing it these days.
    • yeah i guess i have to succumb to the fear and go to a dentist after about 8 years of avoiding them :p
  • I feel your pain. My right side came in and it was painful. My gums suffered. And for the first while, I couldnt even eat cause the way the gum was due to the tooth coming in..when I would chew it would bite my gum and it hurt like hell. Now my left side is coming in. I could get the removed if I wanted...but I DONT want to. Billy being military and all, we get covered dental. No thanks though.
But I am going to be getting my teeth checked and cleaned asap
